Shellac

Not all manicures are created equal!

A shellac polish manicure is the supreme version of a regular manicure. If you've heard the buzz around shellac polish and assumed that they're the same as the gel mani, it's time you gave yourself a little shellac nail lesson.

Gel Nails

A benefit of embracing Gel nails is that they look and feel just like natural nails. This is because the Gel polish is applied in thin layers, allowing the nail to easily bend and to be flexible! This is in direct contrast to acrylic nails that are rigid.

Shellac Manicure

Semi-permanent polish.

There are quite a few things you should know about this service. CND Shellac is its own brand and shouldn't be confused with gel manicures. An LED drying light using UV rays is used to cure the polish. Shellac manicures typically last up to 14 days. Shellac polish should only be removed professionally.

The differences between these two nail types are minimal, but it does have an effect on your overall manicure experience. Essentially gel nails use a semi-permanent gel to color your nails, whereas shellac uses semi-permanent polish.

It might be tempting, but you should never attempt to peel off a shellac manicure, as you can do a lot of damage to the top layers of your nails if you do.

The removal process is one of the biggest things that sets a shellac manicure apart from other gels or gel polish. The process is seamless because shellac polish has a unique formula that forms tiny microscopic tunnels throughout the coating when cured. When it’s time to remove, the acetone penetrates through these tiny tunnels, all the way to the base layer, and then releases from the nail—no scraping and forcing the coating from the nails. If you are worried about the UV rays, it is suggested that you apply an SPF 20 or more about 15 minutes before your service.

The main difference between gel and Shellac polish is the formula.

Gel nails

Look And Feel Like Natural Nails

With many different nail treatments to choose from out there, it can be difficult to know just what product is best to use. Gel is a great choice for your nails and provides benefits such as:

Long-Lasting:

The biggest benefit is that gel nails last much longer. In fact, Gel polish can last up to four weeks. It will not easily chip, break, or peel and there will be no annoying smudges as the polish is cured under a UV light which makes the polish instantly cure.

Gives Your Nails Added Protection:

If you have nails that are particularly weak, or prone to splitting easily, then Gel can help to protect them. Once applied Gel and gel polish act as a natural barrier against dirt and pollutants.
